Diarrhoea is defined by an increase in the frequency and/or volume of stools passed. The stools may be soft or liquid in consistency, be coated in mucous, or contain small traces of fresh blood. If your dog asks you to go outdoors more often, or the hair of its rear end is soiled, your dog may have diarrhoea. In spite of being frequent, diarrhoea is not necessarily innocuous or harmless. It is important to quickly identify and take care of it. It can stem from dietary indiscretion or intolerance, unsuitable food product, or intestinal parasites. This is why diarrhoea should always be monitored. If your dog has persistent diarrhoea, or it is accompanied by a poor appetite, vomiting, or weight loss then seek veterinary advice.
