Constipation is defined by the decrease in the frequency of stool emission. The stools are often hard and dry. It is important to monitor your dog’s stool daily. Often, when constipated, your dog will try to defecate, and strain, without success. If not tended to, constipation can worsen and the stools might form what is known as a faecal impaction. This consists of a collection of very hard and dry faecal material in the colon that cannot be expelled without medical intervention.
