Glucosamine sulphate is the essential precursor of glycosaminoglycans in the body. It is actually the sole and unique precursor of hyaluronic acid, chondroitins and numerous proteoglycans and stimulates their synthesis. With an absorption rate of more than 90% via the digestive tract, it concentrates in the joints where it performs an anti-catabolic function. It seems certain that the glucosamine sulphate inhibits the expression of a number of pro-inflammatory cytokines or molecules known for their catabolic action on cartilage (Cox-2, iNOS, MMP-3, TNF, IL-6, IL-1).
Due to a different mechanism of action, the association with NSAIDs enables the quantity of NSAIDs to be reduced with the same efficacy and decreases the NSAID side effects on the gastric ucosa. Harpagophytum and Meadowsweet help accelerate the recovery of joint mobility. Trace elements are key cofactors in the synthesis of Gags and help potentiate the action of the other CARTIMAX constituents.
