Detox Mission: Why and How to Support Your Pet’s System After the Holidays

Detox Mission: Why and How to Support Your Pet’s System After the Holidays

January is here. While we often feel the need to eat lighter after the year-end excesses, we sometimes forget that our four-legged friends are going through the same rough patch. Even if you didn’t “give in” by sharing petits fours, the shift in routine, the extra treats, or the stress of guests may have disrupted their inner balance.

Here’s how to spot the signs of digestive fatigue and, most importantly, how to support your body naturally.

  1. The Liver: The Overworked Processing Plant

In dogs as in cats, the liver is a vital organ that acts as a filter. It sorts nutrients and eliminates toxins. When overworked (by fats, sugars, or simply excess unusual proteins), it becomes "overloaded."

The Unmistakable Early Signs:

  • Low Energy Levels: your pet seems more lethargic than usual during walks.
  • Digestive Issues: irregular stools, more frequent gas, or even bad breath.
  • Fussy Eating: they turn their nose up at their bowl or eat more slowly.

If these symptoms are severe, a veterinary visit is necessary. But if they're mild and related to the season, health support is often the solution.

  1. Plants for Digestive Comfort Support

Instead of leaving your pet to "cope alone," support them during this time. Nature offers effective solutions, perfectly suited to our four-legged companions:

  • Milk thistle and artichoke: the detox superstars. They support toxin elimination and help protect liver cells.
  • Desmodium: a plant renowned for its liver-supporting benefits, especially useful after a period of excess.

At MP Labo, we incorporate these plants into easy-to-administer solutions, specifically formulated to meet their needs.

  1. Don’t Forget Your Microbiome!

Digestion is also a matter of bacteria. Dietary excesses disrupt gut flora (the microbiome). Alongside liver support, supplying probiotics and prebiotics helps "renovate" the digestive barrier provided by a balanced microbiome. This supports stronger natural defenses for the rest of winter.

MP Labo’s 2026 Tip: If your pet shows the need, take advantage of January to implement a 3-week program supporting liver and digestive comfort. It’s a simple step to help your companion regain energy and vitality.
