How to Clean My Pet’s Teeth?

How to Clean My Pet’s Teeth?

Dental issues can significantly impact your pet’s overall health. That’s why it’s essential to care for their mouth and teeth. What solutions are available?

The Toothbrush: The Most Effective Option!

The ideal is to brush your four-legged friend’s teeth daily: it’s the only way to reduce the risk of oral diseases. For this, there are toothbrushes or silicone finger brushes specially designed for pets. You can also use a toothpaste—formulated for dogs and cats—to complement the mechanical action. It’s important to establish a tooth-brushing routine for your dog or cat from a young age.

What to Do When Brushing Your Teeth Isn’t an Option?

For pets resistant to toothbrushing, alternative solutions exist. Some oral dental gels, formulated with ingredients that directly target plaque buildup, can be used without brushing—especially when applied via a tube with a mouth applicator.

Chewable tablets, powders to sprinkle on food, or solutions to dilute in drinking water are formulated with dental plaque-fighting agents. They’re designed for daily use.

Tailored kibble or treats

Choosing food with textures, shapes, and sizes tailored to your pet’s mouth can help prevent plaque buildup and reduce the risk of bad breath.

Regular vet check-ups

Do you see your dentist once a year for a check-up? The same should go for your four-legged friend! Annual visits are the perfect time to assess your pet’s oral health. If needed, your vet may recommend a dental cleaning.
