My cat has diarrhea

Digestive System

Diarrhea in cats presents as loose or watery stools, which may be more frequent or larger in volume. Easy to spot in the litter box, it can go unnoticed if your cat goes outside—but repeated outings or a soiled hindquarters should raise concern. While common, it requires prompt attention as it may signal various causes, some of which can be serious.

**Diarrhea** **in cats** is characterized by an increase in the frequency and/or volume of stools passed. These are often soft or liquid. If your cat lives indoors and uses a litter box, digestive issues are much easier to spot. However, it becomes more challenging if your cat only relieves itself outdoors. If your cat asks to go out more frequently or if the fur around its hindquarters is soiled, your pet may have diarrhea. Though common, diarrhea isn’t always harmless or risk-free. It’s important to detect and address it quickly. It can stem from an unsuitable diet, food intolerance, or internal parasites. This is why diarrhea should always be monitored.
