Digestive System
Constipation in cats is marked by infrequent, hard, and dry stools, along with unsuccessful attempts in the litter box. Left untreated, it can progress to fecal impaction, requiring surgical intervention.
The Constipation is characterized by a decrease in bowel movement frequency. The stools are often hard and dry. It’s important to monitor your cat’s stools daily. Often, when Constipation your cat will try to defecate, go to its litter box, without success. If left untreated, the Constipation may worsen and stools could form what is known as a fecaloma. This is a mass of very dry, very hard fecal matter that cannot be expelled without surgical intervention.
