Dog diarrhea presents as loose or watery stools, more frequent or larger in volume. While common, it may indicate an underlying issue (poor diet, parasites) and requires close monitoring.
Diarrhea is defined by an increase in the frequency and/or volume of stools passed. These are often soft or liquid. If you don’t regularly monitor your dog’s stools, you may have noticed they’re asking to go out more often—or, if they have long fur, that the hair around their hindquarters is soiled. Though common, diarrhea isn’t always harmless. It’s important to detect and address it quickly. It can stem from an unsuitable diet, food intolerance, or internal parasites. That’s why diarrhea should always be monitored.
